Tebatso Denilson Molapo

Tebatso Denilson Molapo is a theatre practitioner from Maseru, Lesotho known for his classical and contemporary acting and directing in theatre and film. He received his training from the University of Cape Town where he specialised in acting and theatre theory. His work tackles all facets of the human condition both physical and emotional whereby his focus is on isolated and collective performativity of the individual. He has worked with South African contemporary theatre giants such as Lara Foot, Warona Seane, and Sarah Matchett. His notable works include playing the lead, Toloki, in Zake’s Mda’s Ways of Dying, a story that follows a self-proclaimed professional mourner traveling the outskirts of South Africa in the aftermath of Apartheid. He has also starred in Molelekoa – The Banished One directed by Moso Sematlane, which has premiered in Beijing International Short Film Festival and Avellino, Italy. The short film was also awarded honourable mention at the Sipontum Arthouse International Film Festival. Tebatso Denilson Molapo continues to contribute to that arts space in Lesotho as an educator, dramaturg and facilitator whilst supporting young and emerging artist in the country.
